Police raid reflexology centre, arrest 5 women for alleged prostitution

MIRI, Jan 12: Five female foreigners were detained at a reflexology centre at Jalan Bendahara here on Saturday (January 11) night for alleged prostitution.

The women, all from China and aged 41 to 50, were arrested during an operation dubbed ‘Ops Noda’ carried out by Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) around 10.30pm.


Miri police chief Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Lim Meng Seah, confirmed the arrests when contacted today.

He said police also detained a local man aged 50, believed to be the premises caretaker, to assist the probe into the case.

“During the operation, police also seized a reciept book, the suspects’ passports and the premises’ expired licence,” said Lim.

The case is being investigated under Section 372B of the Penal Code for soliciting for the purpose of prostitution and Section 39 (b) of the Immigration Act 1959/1963 for violating a social pass. — DayakDaily
