KUCHING, July 25: Police have launched an investigation into a viral video showing an individual allegedly performing a dangerous stunt by jumping from the Darul Hana Bridge at the Kuching Waterfront.
Kuching District Police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said police received a report on Friday (July 24) regarding the incident after a 28-second video recording circulated widely on social media.
“Investigations are being conducted under Section 336 of the Penal Code for committing an act so rashly or negligently as to endanger the life or personal safety of others,” he said in a statement today.
The offence carries a maximum penalty of three months’ imprisonment, or a fine of up to RM500, or both upon conviction.
“Police are still carrying out investigations to verify the authenticity of the viral video and to identify the individual involved in the incident,” he added.
He also advised members of the public against engaging in actions that could endanger their own lives or the safety of others.
