Police on the lookout for Ling Neng Thung for alleged involvement in cheating cases

SIBU, June 2: Police are searching for a 46-year-old man for his alleged involvement in two cheating cases.

The suspect has been named as Ling Neng Thung from Simpang Selalang, Sarikei.

Sibu district police chief, ACP Zulkipli Suhaili in a statement said two men had lodged separate reports claiming that they had been cheated by the suspect.


In the first case, a male teacher of a secondary school here made a report on March 25, saying that the suspect, who is his friend, made him an offer to invest in a dry food business, promising good returns.

“The victim said he had invested RM55,000 in the said business but he had not receives the returns as promised,” said ACP Zulkipli.

He added that the suspect had also duped a lorry battery and tyre dealer of RM115,000 on Feb 5.

“The suspect had cheated the victim in which he had bought batteries and tyre tubes worth RM115,000 by issuing a bounced cheque,” he said.

The two cases are investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating.
