Police looking for man accused of running over wife

MIRI, Aug 31: Police are looking for a 50-year-old man from Pengkalan Lutong accused of running over his wife with a car on Thursday night.

According to Miri Police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah, the alleged incident took place by the roadside along the Kampung Wireless around 8.30pm.


“The suspect fled off the scene with another woman after running over his wife,” he said when contacted today.

Lim explained that prior to the incident, the 53 year-old victim, a housewife, spotted her husband inside a car with another woman parked by the roadside of the area. Suspicious, she went to the car to confront her husband.

It was understood that the husband swerved the car out to the road and rammed the wife as he fled.

Following the incident, the wife sustained bodily injuries and was taken to Miri hospital for treatment.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect and his wife have been married for the past 30 years and were blessed with eight children.

The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder. — DayakDaily
