KUCHING, April 27: The police have issued 38 compounds for various violations of standard operating procedures (SOP) in the most recent 24-hour period.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in its daily update on the Covid-19 situation in Sarawak today, revealed that 15 compounds were issued in Miri, Sibu (11), and Kuching (6) while Bintulu and Padawan had three each.

This brings the total number of compounds issued since March 18, 2021 to 6,028.

The Ministry for Local Government and Housing also issued five compounds under the Serian District Council’s jurisdiction.

Meanwhile, the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) throughout Sarawak has been extended to May 17 after an extension until May 10 initially.

SDMC in announcing the extension yesterday (April 26), emphasised that the decision was made after assessing the Covid-19 situation in the State.

It has also approved tighter SOPs for Kuching, Miri, Sibu, Betong, Bintulu, Sarikei and Kapit in an efforts to stem the recent surge in Covid-19 cases and clusters. — DayakDaily
