Police corporal pleads not guilty to accepting RM1,000 corruptly

KUCHING, July 13: A police corporal claimed trial to a charge of corruptly accepting RM1,000 in the Kuching Sessions Court today.

Judge Nixon Kennedy Kumbong fixed August 21 for pre-trial case management and for trial to be on September 14-17.


Suaidi Bujang, 56, was charged with corruptly accepted RM1,000 in cash from Ng Heng Nguan as an inducement to provide protection from gangsterism.

He was charged under Section 17(a) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 which is punishable under Section 24 of the same Act, which carries imprisonment not exceeding 20 years and a fine of not less than five times the sum or value of gratification, or RM10,000, whichever is higher, upon conviction.
