Police bust Batu Niah burglary ring with arrest of three suspects

MIRI, Sept 8: Miri police on Saturday morning arrested three local men suspected to be involved in a series of house break-ins in Batu Niah.

The arrests were made around 6am at a house in Batu Niah following a public tip-off.

The suspects who are all in their early 20’s were nabbed by a team of Miri Criminal Investigation Department police personnel (CID) who had closely observed the suspects for about 24 hours before making their move.

During the raid, police also seized several items believed to be stolen, including a solar panel, standing fans, a television, a machete, a tile cutter, and Astro decoder unit.

The trio is currently under police custody at Miri Central police station (CPS) to facilitate investigation.

With these arrests, police are confident of solving a number of house break-in cases in Batu Niah.

Sources added, that the police had been hot on the trail of the suspects since a few weeks ago following a crime spree in the Batu Niah area. — DayakDaily
