Police arrest two girls aged 13 and 16 over alleged bullying of 12yo girl in viral video

KOTA SAMARAHAN, Oct 16: The police are investigating a viral video allegedly showing a girl getting beaten up by two girls.

Kota Samarahan District Police Chief DSP Brodie Brangka said the video clip with the duration of one minute and 34 seconds was uploaded by RedParrot page on Facebook, stating that the incident was believed to have occurred at Jalan Kampung Sebandi, Asajaya recently.

“The video showed an incident where a 12-year-old female victim was beaten up by two female suspects at a village in Asajaya, Kota Samarahan.


“The Kota Samarahan police has confirmed that a police report was lodged by the victim’s mother on Oct 14, around 10.33pm.

“Upon receiving the information, a police squad from Kota Samarahan District Crime Investigation Division has arrested the two suspects aged 13 and 16,” he said in a statement today.

Brodie further said an investigation paper has been opened under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.

If found guilty, the accused could face up to one year’s imprisonment, a fine up to RM2,000, or both.

Meanwhile, Section 506 of the Penal Code provides for imprisonment of up to 2 years or a fine, or both, upon conviction for criminal intimidation.

“The investigation paper will be referred to Sarawak Prosecution Director for further action,” Brodie added.

He also urged members of the public to not make any speculations or comments on social media which could spark outrage. — DayakDaily
