Police, army personnel cast their votes as early voting begins for PRN12

MIRI, Dec 14: Early voting for the 12th Sarawak Election has begun.

At the Miri Police headquarters (IPD), three voting channels were opened at 8am for the voting process.


Some voters arrived as early as 7am for registration to cast their votes.

It is estimated that a total 447 voters will cast their votes at the Miri IPD, which will be open until 5pm today.

Miri Deputy Police chief Supt Mohd Sabri Zainol was also present to cast his vote today.

Meanwhile, a check carried out at Camp Sri Miri, an army camp here confirmed that one channel was open, whereby a total 679 military personnel and their spouses were present to cast their votes.

Police personnel have begun casting their votes as part of the early voting process for the 12th Sarawak Election.

At the Sarawak General Operations Force (GOF) 12th Batallion, a total of 636 police personnel and their spouses casting their votes at a designated slot.

At Marudi District Police headquaters, a total 92 police personnel registered as early voters with their spouses were seen casting their votes.

Also present to observe the process were agents of candidates and election observers appointed by the Election Commission (EC).

Thoughout the process, voters were seen wearing face masks and had their body temperatures screened and recorded as per the EC’s strict standard operating procedures to curb the transmission of Covid-19.

Election candidates Datuk Sebastian Ting of SUPP for Piasau, DAP’s Peter Hee, PBB’s candidates for Bekenu Datuk Rosey Yunus and Lambir’s PBB Ripin Lamat were also seen visiting the polling centre at IPD. ā€” DayakDaily
