PM resignation: Cabinet is dissolved

KUCHING, Feb 24: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah has dissolved the federal cabinet on the advice of interim prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Chief Secretary to the Government Datuk Seri Mohd Zuki Ali said the Cabinet has been dissolved immediately in accordance with Article 43(5) of the Federal Constitution.

This was in line with the resignation of the prime minister.

“The Yang di-Pertuan Agong has consented to the cancellation of all ministerial appointments on the advice of the prime minister in accordance with Article 43(5) of the Federal Constitution, in line with the prime minister’s resignation on Feb 24,” he said in a statement.

In this respect, all duties of the administration officers (including deputy prime minister, ministers, deputy ministers and political secretaries) are also dissolved.

Dr Mahathir submitted his resignation letter to the King at 1pm today but was appointed as interim prime minister until a new prime minister is appointed and the federal cabinet formed. — DayakDaily
