PM congratulates Bonnie Bunyau Gustin for winning Malaysia’s 4th gold medal in Commonwealth Games

KUCHING, Aug 5: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has extended his congratulations to powerlifter Bonnie Bunyau Gustin after he won a fourth gold medal for Malaysia at the Commonwealth Games 2022.

The Prime Minister in his official Facebook page said Bonnie had made the country proud.

“National pride, powerlifting athlete Bonnie Bunyau Gustin made the country proud when he won the gold medal after lifting 210kg for the Men’s Lightweight Final category,” he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Premier Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian also congratulated Bonnie for his achievement.

“Heartiest congratulations to our champion, Sarawakian Bonnie Bunyau Gustin, for once again putting all of us on the world map with a gold at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, UK. Sarawak is so proud of you,” he said.

The 23-year-old athlete broke the Games record with his first lift of 210kg and also made history as the first Malaysian para-athlete to take gold in Commonwealth Games. — DayakDaily
