KUCHING, Jan 20: Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim will consult with the Malay Rulers on the technical terminology to refer to Sabah and Sarawak as regions, not States.

He said the principle of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) was that the Federation comprised the Malaya states, Sabah, and Sarawak.

“I will certainly refer this view (to Malay Rulers) because this involves the constitution, and therefore, their views are important before we can bring it up for consideration by the federal Cabinet.

“Although the term has not been amended, the status is clear where Malaya, Sabah and Sarawak are recognised as three different entities,” he said at a press conference after the MA63 Technical Committee meeting held at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex today.

He also mentioned that he has yet to refer the matter to the Malay Rulers, but he has had an initial discussion with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (YDPA). — DayakDaily
