SIBU, Jan 20: A man was killed after the car he was driving hit a tree in an accident at Jalan Wawasan here early today.
The victim, identified as 42-year-old Poh Ching Peng, was pronounced dead at the scene by Sibu Hospital paramedics after he was found trapped in his vehicle.
Meanwhile, a Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) spokesman said the Sungai Merah Station received an emergency call regarding the incident at 2am.
Following that, he said, 11 members led by PBK II Mohd Faizal Bujang were deployed to the scene.
Arriving at the location, the firefighters found that a Perodua Myvi was involved in a self-inflicted accident and hit a tree.
He said the fire department then used specialised rescue tools to remove the victim from the car.
However, he stressed, the victim was pronounced dead by Sibu hospital paramedics at the scene of the incident before the body was handed over to the police for further action. — DayakDaily
