KUCHING, Jan 24: The Federal government must give attention to Sabah and Sarawak as both are in need of basic development, says Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He asserted this when asked by a reporter during a function in Bukit Mertajam last night, on whether the Federal government would consider giving a larger allocation to Penang in the upcoming Budget 2023 since Penang allegedly had received inadequate allocation as the biggest tax contributor.

“(Penang) will be taken into consideration although there are constraints in terms of (national) income and expenditure, but we will pay attention if it is true.

“However, it is the same case when I went to Sabah and Sarawak, where there is a big shortage.

“The allocation for Penang is more towards large infrastructure while Sabah and Sarawak are more towards small infrastructure such as clinics, hospitals, people’s housing and dilapidated schools that we should pay attention to,” he said in a video broadcast live by Sinar Harian on Facebook.
