KUCHING, Sept 11: Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced a project to develop a Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) base in Bintulu.
When tabling the mid-term review of the 12th Malaysia Plan at the Dewan Rakyat today, the Prime Minister said that among other focuses in Sarawak is the construction of new Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) security posts along Sarawak’s border with Indonesia, including in Sabah.
“The security and sovereignty of the country will continue to be defended to guarantee the well-being of the people and the country,” he said.
On March 23, Commander of the Eastern Fleet, Rear Admiral Dato Sabri Zali, said that Sarawak is one of the regions in the country without a naval base. — DayakDaily
