Pledge the same to help the poor in Kota Sentosa, says Wilfred Yap

KUCHING, Dec 14: None of the four other candidates standing in N12 Kota Sentosa have committed to bringing physical change to the constituency if elected, says Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate Wilfred Yap Yau Sin.

He said he was disheartened when other candidates not only did not pledge the same to improve Kota Sentosa, but had only rhetoric and cosmetic showmanship to show.

Some had even repeated GPS’ goals in their manifestos and promised things that have already been achieved by the GPS government, he claimed.

“On Dec 8 we said: ‘The mission to elevate poverty-stricken people is something that I feel should be an obligation and not just a campaign promise and that is why I ask that whomsoever wins the N12 seat should commit to doing the same because it is just the right thing to do.’

“So we ask all the other candidates in this contest to similarly make a pledge as we are doing today, to make elevating of hard core poor poverty as the first priority come the next five years,” he said in a statement today.

Yap, who is also Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Kota Sentosa branch chairman thus reiterated his request for whoever wins the Kota Sentosa seat in this election to care for the people, especially the poor.

“Instead of claiming credit for work others have done, copying manifestos and saying nothing at all, we hope to see material promises which concern the people of Kota Sentosa.” — DayakDaily
