KwUCHING, Aug 2: Parti Keadilan Rakyat’s (PKR) defeat in previous Sarawak elections reflect Sarawakians’ rejection of the party, says Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) vice president Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

He was responding to PKR Sarawak Strategic Director Iswardy Morni’s recent remark, who wanted Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) to allocate some seats for PKR in the next State election, taking into account that both parties have a good working relationship at the Federal level.

“If they have contested and never won, why would they ask for free seats?

“When we compete and do not win, it shows that the people don’t support us. What’s the point of asking for free seats?” Abdul Karim said when met by reporters after officiating the soft launch of cricket and rugby ground near Petra Jaya Sports Complex here today.

Abdul Karim who is Asajaya assemblyman, further stated that Sarawak has local parties that know the problems of Sarawakians and does not need parties like PKR that come from other parts of Malaysia.

While he does not deny that there is democracy in politics, he also reminded Iswardy to be realistic.

“If he (Iswardy) is brave enough and feel that the people can accept him, then contest. Previously, I invited him to compete in Asajaya but he didn’t want to compete.

“If I am still allowed by my party to contest in the next election, I wish to invite Iswardy to contest again.

“I’m not being arrogant here but I would love to see where he stands in terms of acceptance by the people of Sarawak. Don’t just talk nonsense,” he added.

Yesterday (Aug 1), Iswardy through his social media page, opined that GPS should let go some of its seats for Pakatan Harapan (PH) if it wishes to remain in the Federal government in the next General Election. — DayakDaily
