MUKAH, Sept 28: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Mukah branch urges the Mukah District Disaster Management Committee (MDDMC) to take drastic action to solve the overcrowding situation at Kem Belia Mukah which has been designated as a Covid-19 Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC).
Its branch chief Abdul Jalil Bujang in a statement today said the situation at Kem Belia Mukah was in dire straits and needed to be improved for the safety and wellbeing of those undergoing quarantine there.
“Kem Belia Mukah PKRC is crowded and unable to accommodate the increasing number of patients.
“The crowded situation as well as no physical distancing being practiced is against the standard operating procedures (SOP) issued by the Disaster Committee management itself.
“Besides the crowd, there is currently no segregation of gender.
“There is also no proper place for worship provided,” he added.
Abdul Jalil believed an estimated 300 to 400 people needed to be screened for Covid-19 at the centre.
He claimed that the facility was minimally staffed and were not provided with adequate equipment such as computers, printers and stationery for registration and record keeping purposes. — DayakDaily
