Piasau to see five-way clash

MIRI, Dec 6: N73 Piasau incumbent Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew is facing a five-way fight this coming 12th Sarawak Election.

Democratic Action Party (DAP)’s Peter Hee Leh Keng, Sarawak People’s Aspiration Party (Aspirasi) Hanim Jaraee, Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB)’s Steve Teo Jia Jun and Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK)’s Devora Chung will be seeking to wrest the seat.


All five candidates submitted their nomination forms to the N73 Piasau nomination centre at the multipurpose hall on the fifth floor of the Sarawak Islamic Complex in Jalan Miri-Pujut here earlier today.

Ting who is contesting the seat under Gabungan Parti Sarawak-Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (GPS-SUPP), won the Piasau seat in 2016 State Election after defeating Alan Ling (DAP) in a two-corner fight with a majority 2,112 votes.

He garnered 7,799 votes while Ling polled 5,687 votes.

Ting was a former political secretary to Tan Sri Peter Chin Fah Kui who was Miri MP from 2004 to 2013. — DayakDaily
