KUCHING, June 12: Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Datuk Sebastian Ting has allocated RM100,000 to renovate the Sarawak Federation of Women’s Institutes (PPWS) building in Miri.

He said the renovation works that are sponsored through the Piasau constituency Rural Transformation Project (RTP) will begin this August following the Miri Division Resident’s Office’s project voting session.

“First, repair the fence, then repair the PPWS Miri building, and finally construct the building awning based on the total allocation of RM100,000,” said Ting, who is also the Piasau assemblyman.

He was met after a visit to inspect the PPWS Miri construction site on Thursday (June 9).

Damage to old fences had resulted in theft incidents involving the loss of clothes, sewing machines, refrigerators, and other items, according to a news report by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas).

Also present were Penghulu Leonard Fung, Miri Public Works Department (JKR) engineer, PPWS Miri-Bintulu branch chairman Habsah Daud, and former PPWS advisor Datuk Ursula Goh. — DayakDaily
