KUCHING, Oct 10: Democratic Action Party (DAP) Serian Youth chief Brolin Nicholsion emphasises the federal government will not introduce a new tax system to replace the Sales and Service Tax (SST), especially not with the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

According to Brolin in a statement, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had said earlier that frequent changes in the tax system would result in the lack of confidence among foreign investors to invest in Malaysia, thus worsening the country’s economy.

“Sarawak PAS just wants to mislead the people and distort the facts,” Brolin stated, in response to a statement made by Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) Sarawak Deputy Commissioner II Wan Abdillah Wan Ahmad recently that the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government made a U-turn to reintroduce GST to replace the SST.

Brolin also criticised PAS Sarawak, a religion-centric party, for trying to associate themselves with the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) state government. — DayakDaily
