PH not getting the credit it deserves for doing good, says DAP Serian Youth chief

Brolin Nicholsion

KUCHING, Oct 29: The Pakatan Harapan (PH) federal government is trying its utmost best to serve the people of Malaysia with many initiatives given to the rakyat, yet Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) leaders are silent about it.

Democratic Action Party (DAP) Serian Youth chief, Brolin Nicholsion pointed out that the previous Barisan Nasional (BN) government did not give Sabah and Sarawak such amount even though it had governed the country for decades.

Brolin in a statement alleged Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) leaders who were in the BN coalition previously were silenced and did not speak up to protect the interests of Sarawakians during that period.

He claimed that for many years, the then BN government which included state parties Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP), failed to take good care for Sabah and Sarawak.

According to Brolin, even when these leaders fell short, they still praised the BN government, painting BN as the best for the people of Sarawak.

Brolin who is also Special Officer to Padungan assemblyman, Wong King Wei also asked why GPS politicians never questioned their leaders but instead told the people that the PH federal government is misleading them.

“In 2019, CM Abang Jo (Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg) announced the biggest budget in the Sarawak totalling RM 11.914 billion, yet there is still nothing done in Sarawak.

“RM81.7 million was announced in 2019 Sarawak Budget allocated to build and to repair the dilapidated schools in Sarawak yet we still see many schools have yet to be repaired; RM141 million for Rumah Mampu Milik yet we still see many Sarawakians cannot afford to buy a house in Sarawak; RM6.05 million for clean water in rural areas, still we see many kampung depending on “tong biru” to get their water supply,” he lamented.

“I can continue with many other things to address the failures of the GPS-led government but those issues mentioned are enough for now,” he said.

Brolin made these remarks in response to separate statements by GPS Youth chief Gerald Rentap Jabu and Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Youth chief Datuk Snowdan Lawan today, both alleging that DAP leaders are trying to confuse Sarawakians by hiding their failures to deliver what they have promised to Sarawakians before GE14, during the party’s convention in Miri recently. — DayakDaily
