PH government disappointing, no better than BN — ex-rep

KUCHING, Sept 8: Sarawak Association for Peoples’ Aspiration (Sapa) has lambasted the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government for being no different than the one under the Barisan Nasional (BN), despite clamouring for change when they were in the Opposition.

The non-governmental organisation (NGO)’s legal advisor Dominique Ng said this was apparent when the federal government failed to address Sarawak’s claim to have its rights back, not just to its oil and gas resources but also education.

“The saddest thing to me is the continual deprivation and the denial of Sarawak’s rights by the BN and now the PH government. It is Sarawak’s own politicians in the federal government who betrayed us. That’s the irony of it all.

“Sarawak’s oil and gas were signed off by our own chief minister in those days (Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud), and gradually all our rights were lost via Sarawak’s own ministers in the federal government or who have ever served there,” he said in a statement.

Ng, who is formerly Padungan assemblyman, said the one thing that is very clear about Sarawak politicians, irrespective of whether they are from PH, BN or Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), is that they sing one tune when they are in opposition and change their tune when they are in the government, and vice versa.

They willingly betrayed the people of Sarawak for personal gain and party politics, he added.

“They all are lions when they are in the opposition, but they turned pussy cats when they enter government,” said Ng, referring to Sarawak PH. — DayakDaily
