KUCHING, May 27: Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) has clarified that no wrongdoing by the company, its employees and directors were found under the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009.
“Following MACC’s recommendation and in line with Petronas’ zero tolerance against corruption, Petronas continues to improve and strengthen its standard operating procedures (SOP) as a serious ongoing effort to prevent and fight all forms of corruption and misconduct by employees, directors and third parties employed by or on behalf of the companies in the Group,” it said in a statement today.
Petronas was responding to the statement issued by MACC on the investigation file opened by MACC in relation to Petronas’ award of contract in 2021 to a Malaysian subsidiary of an international upstream company.
Petronas also gave assurance that the company will continue giving its fullest cooperation to MACC.
Yesterday (May 26), MACC in a statement said an investigation paper has been opened on allegations of corruption involving Petronas and a foreign oil and gas company.
It was alleged that the investigation involved a project worth RM399 million in Sarawak. — DayakDaily
