KUCHING, Dec 30: Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) chairman Datuk Peter Minos has called on the Federal Government and Petronas to fulfil their promises by increasing Sarawak’s share of oil and gas (O&G) revenue in 2025.

“It is patently unfair and unjust that we (Sarawak) only receive 5 per cent from our O&G. We need these funds to catch up with the Peninsular and improve the lives of our people. We hope Kuala Lumpur and Petronas will honour their word,” he said in a statement today.

Minos also shared his optimism for the coming year, highlighting the Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s relentless efforts in bringing new projects and industries to Sarawak, paving the way for rapid development.

“Our Premier never seems to stop doing new projects and new industries. In fact, I’ve lost count of what he’s done, from plans for a new airport, port, airline, commercial bank, and maybe a new fully-fledged Sarawak University,” said Minos.

He credited Abang Johari’s leadership and innovative spirit for Sarawak’s growing economic strength, bringing the people closer together and fostering unity.

“With economic progress and united people, Sarawak will continue to gain respect and admiration.

“It is a plus factor that Sarawak is devoid of any racial and religious misunderstanding among the people—something that is unfortunately not found in Peninsular Malaysia,” he added.

Minos concluded by expressing pride and optimism for Sarawak’s future, underscoring the confidence in the State’s leadership and development path. –DayakDaily
