KUCHING, Sept 22: Pesta Benak (Tidal Bore Festival) Sri Aman 2023 is all set to kick off from Sept 29 to Oct 1, with the aim of attracting 50,000 visitors.
According to a news report by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), Abang Mohamad Porkan Abang Budiman, the Sri Aman Resident and Chairman of the Main Committee of Pesta Benak, highlighted that the influx of both local and foreign tourists would contribute to the enhancement of the local economy.
“Furthermore, it will provide a significant boost to the tourism sector, as that is our primary objective for organising Pesta Benak this time,” he told reporters after paying a courtesy visit to Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at his office in Wisma Bapa Malaysia today.
In the meantime, Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, the Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development and the Advisor for Pesta Benak, expressed optimism that the event would not only attract local visitors but also international tourists.
