KUCHING, Dec 4: Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong today predicted that the Darul Hana Musical Fountain will last only five years.
She based her prediction on answers given to her by Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Talib Zulpilip during the latter’s winding-up speech at the recent State Legislative Assembly sitting.
“I have noticed what has been declared by Talib, the minister in his winding-up speech, that the RM31 million involved two years of maintenance cost and five years of design guarantee.
“So, I can put it simply. After five years, ‘susah lah’ (difficult), but, hopefully, it can still continue. I predict the lifespan for this musical fountain only lasts five years,” she told a press conference at Democratic Action Party (DAP) headquarters here today.
She wondered what the government planned to do with the fountain after five years.
Meanwhile, Yong claimed there was only one session of laser light and water show at 8.30pm and not the 10pm show. She also questioned why the image on the water screen on the left was blurry.
“Why? I don’t know. So I have to ask the government. Is it because the quality of the water screen projector is not durable or the quality is not good enough for it to play for two sessions? I leave it to the expert or to the government to explain,” said Yong.
She said she believed there was no special equipment to synchronise the light, the music or the water fountain during the laser water show performance as “when the music stopped, the water fountain was still dancing.”
“Obviously, the conclusion I can make is that it is only a simple, unsynchronised musical fountain and it is not complex and specialised as claimed or as declared by Talib in the State Legislative Assembly or by the government,” said Yong.
Yong hoped the government ‘could come clean” and could disclose all documents that she had requested and make good all the defects that she had highlighted. — DayakDaily
