KUCHING, Dec 18: It was a close win for Democratic Action Party’s (DAP) Violet Yong Wui Wui in N10 Pending who defended her seat with a mere majority of 540 votes.

Though losing the battle and coming in second again, Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) Milton Foo Tiang Wee had managed to narrow the gap between himself and Yong.

In the 2016 State Election, three-term assemblywoman Yong had defended the seat with a majority of 5,012 votes and defeating Foo in the process.

This year, challengers from other parties had decided to join the contest but none of them prevailed.

Tan Kay Hok from Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) lost with 1,858 votes while Teo Kuang Kim from Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) and Chan Chee Hiong from Sarawak People’s Aspiration Party (Aspirasi) lost their deposits after getting 978 and 204 votes respectively. — DayakDaily
