GPS wrestles back Bukit Assek from DAP

KUCHING, Dec 18: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate Chieng Jin Ek won the N51 Bukit Assek seat with a majority of 874 votes.

According to the Election Commission’s (EC) official result, Chieng secured 4,684 votes in a six-cornered battle for the seat.

He defeated incumbent Irene Cheng from Democratic Action Party (DAP), Priscilla Lau from Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK), and Ting Kee Nguan from Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB), where they managed to garner 3,810, 2,598 and 1,790 votes, respectively.


Two other contenders namely Independent Hii Tiong Huat (313 votes) and Jess Lau from Sarawak Aspiration Party (209 votes), lost their deposit. ― DayakDaily
