BINTULU, June 30: The Malaysian Drug Prevention Association Sarawak (Pemadam Sarawak) together with the National Anti -Drug Agency (AADK) presented contributions of food and drinks to frontliners in various locations in Bintulu on June 28.
According to Chairman of Pemadam Sarawak, Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, the contribution programme for frontliners is one of the initiatives that had been planned and implemented by the association together with AADK as part of their social responsibility in the effort to help the community affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Abdul Karim, who is Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Sarawak said the initiative was also aimed to assist the frontliners in terms of meeting their needs for drinks and food while carrying out their duties.
“Our frontline workforce has worked very hard throughout the Covid-19 pandemic and they have also sacrificed energy and time regardless of day or night to provide the best service to the public,” said Abdul Karim, who is also Minister of Youth and Sports Sarawak.
“The commitment of the frontline staff is commendable and therefore, a planned approach which includes the contribution from Pemadam Sarawak together with AADK for those in Bintulu district is one way to show our appreciation for their service,” Abdul Karim said in a statement today.
He hoped the contribution may help to reduce the burden of those responsible in dealing with the effects of the pandemic and as a sign of strong support to the frontliners.
Abdul Karim also thanked the AADK Sarawak branch for the collaboration because it also gives a positive message to the community on the roles and functions of both parties in fulfilling its social responsibility.
The contributions were directed to the frontline workforce involved in roadblocks or Sekatan Jalanraya (SJR) located at nearby Ibu Pejabat Daerah (IPD) Bintulu, Jalan Tun Husseein Onn; junction at Stadium Muhibbah, Jalan Tg. Kidurong; Jalan Sibiew Bintulu and junction at Jepak Industrial Estate, Jalan Bintulu-Tatau.
Those stationed at PKRC Dewan Suarah Bintulu; PKRC Stadium Muhibbah and PKRC SJK (C) Siong Boon as well as those manning Pusat Pemberian Vaksin (PPV) at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Dinner World Restaurant, Bintulu also received similar contributions. — DayakDaily
