KUCHING, Jan 15: Sarawakians who wish to know more about the state’s rights as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) are urged to support a peaceful solidarity gathering at Padang Mederka on Jan 19 at 3pm.
Sarawak Loyalty Club chairman Abdul Halim Hamdian, who is also the event’s organising chairman, said the gathering aims to educate Sarawakians on the state’s rights. He expecte some 1,000 people to show up.
“The programme is the initiative of the club in collaboration with various non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Sarawak in our effort to send a message to the federal and state governments that Sarawakians want the rights that are enshrined in the MA63 to remain status quo and be given back to Sarawak,” he told a press conference here today.
Abdul Halim revealed that he and three others would say a few words on the MA63 at the gathering. There could be more speakers joining.
“The peaceful gathering will end with a pledge of loyalty to Sarawak, followed by signatory support to the pledge,” he added.
