KUCHING, Jan 15: The Borneo Tribal Fest (BTF19) is scheduled to be held from June 7-9 at the lush 25-acre Borneo Tribal Village (BTV) to capitalise on its unique setting, said BTF19 advisor Datuk Peter Nansian Ngusie.

He said the event would coincide with the annual Gawai Dayak celebration.

“Obviously, the theme for the BTF19 shall reflect something tribal and to excite and attract tourists and visitors to the festival. Thus, for this year, the theme for the BTF shall simply be “Let’s go tribal”,” Nansian told DayakDaily at his office in MJC Batu Kawah here today.

Additionally, Nansian said BTF19 was being held during the Visit Sarawak Year 2019 campaign. The aim is for the BTF to formally form part of the Sarawak Tourism Calendar in the future.

“BTF19 will be special as visitors could savour all sorts of native dishes and local products during the festival,” he enthused.

Nansian, who is formerly Tasik Biru assemblyman and Assistant Minister of Community Development, said there would also be surprises during the three-day gathering.

“The festival will also include tribal sports and games, such as blowpipe, catapult, spear throwing and coconut bowling,” he added.
