KUCHING, May 23: There is no such thing as party legacy seat in current political era, said Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) president Dato Sri Tiong King Sing.

According to a news report from TV Sarawak (TVS), Tiong said the decision to distribute seats for political parties now lies in the hand of the people.

“In my opinion, there is no such thing as legacy seats anymore because the most important now is who is chosen by the people.

“We in PDP, never said that we are going contest for it (seat). Even the seat that we own, if it is taken, we are not going against it,” he said when attending the Mantar Gawai Dayak 2024 event in Rh Jack Braoh in Skrang recently.

Tiong believed that the issues involving legacy seat should not exist among political party leaders in Sarawak because the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition leaders have better plans to address the matter.

He added, that is why representatives, especially from PDP, should get to the ground more and meet with the people if they want to be re-elected in the coming election. — DayakDaily
