KUCHING, Feb 11: Don’t let politics run like ‘business as usual’, says Progressive Democratic Action Party (PDP) president Dato Seri Tiong King Sing.
According to Tiong, the people are watching, and already, some are making decisions on who to vote for in the 16th General Election (GE16).
“We must no longer practice the politics of the last century,” said Tiong, whose text speech was read by PDP secretary-general Datuk Nelson Balang Rining during Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) 15th General Election (GE15) appreciation ceremony tonight.
Tiong emphasised that it is also time for political alliances like GPS to truly coordinate and move as one for the sake of the people and development.
He said there is also a need to stop running down opponents in a zero-sum game manner (where one person’s gain would be another’s loss).
He also said everyone must be constructive, collaborative, and not domineering or condemning over anyone under the alliance.
“Within the alliance, we hope all component parties will now focus on developing the people’s welfare and Sarawak’s economy,” he added. — DayakDaily
