KUCHING, Dec 31: Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) vice president Datuk Pengguang Manggil is positive that the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) will thrive in the coming 12th State Election (PRN12) to enable it to bring Sarawak towards greater height.

According to Pengguang in a statement today, with the prospect of having the state poll us getting nearer and some predicted it is going to be a tough time for GPS.

“But I beg to differ, because of GPS ‘good track records and its ability to deliver and fulfill its election manifesto and the need of the “rakyat”. I am very confident, come what may, that GPS will stand tall and will be given the mandate to enable it to bring Sarawak to greater heights, and to become a high income developed State by 2030,” he said.

Pengguang, who is also the Assistant Minister of Local Government and Housing, noted Sarawak have observed and experienced equally unexpected development, particularly with the unexpected change in the country’s stewardship or leadership, and the upsurge in the numbers of political parties that come to the scene when the PRN12 is around the corner.

He said each and every one of them claimed to champion the “rakyat” and the Dayak, more so in the “defense” of Malaysian Agreement 1963 (MA63), Native Customary Rights (NCR) and promises of more development, particularly in the rural areas.

With God’s blessing, he continued, whatever happened outside there, Sarawak remains a politically stable state and continues to pursue its politics of development agenda, putting people first and has successfully uplifted the livelihood of many Sarawakians over the years.

“These are all possible due to our dynamic and far-sighted leadership, captained by Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, who has tirelessly implemented initiatives after initiatives, and most importantly able to secure more revenue through his revenue-engineering policies that has been able to fund people-centric and highers impact infrastructure projects, including the socio-economic policies,” he added.

On another note, Pengguang also called on all Sarawakian to continue to stay strong and united, and remain patient in faith.

“May 2021 bring peace, unity, good health, prosperity and harmony to all beloved Sarawakian,” he said. –DayakDaily.
