KUCHING, Oct 11: Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) candidates will contest under the Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) banner in the upcoming 15th General Election (GE15).
PBK president Voon Lee Shan said PBK had successfully combined forces with PSB and Parti Bangsa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS) for the general election. This is to ensure that they will not clashing of seats and to maximise their chances of winning these seats.
“We came to the conclusion that to work with political parties from Malaya would not help us to restore Sarawak to its original position. This was evident from the promises DAP made in GE14 (14th General Election) about 20 per cent oil royalty and 50 per cent taxes collected from Sarawak, which to my memory had not been fulfilled despite being in power for 22 months.
“We also see that no Malayan political parties, especially DAP wants to work with us to take down GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak) in any elections.
“At the same time, we also could not see any capability of GPS to restore Sarawak to its original position despite being the kingmaker in the federal government.
“We also see a seat won by political parties such as by DAP or PKR (Parti Keadilan Rakyat) from Malaya is a seat won by Malaya and voters now began to understand PBK’s struggle more clearly and are pleased with the cooperation we had with PSB and PBDS in our joint struggle to restore Sarawak,” said Voon in a statement today.
Sarawak has only 31 out of 222 seats and he said Sarawak’s voice will become less audible if seats from Sarawak are won by DAP or PKR. — DayakDaily
