KUCHING, Aug 25: Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) is fielding Freedy Misid, 40, as its potential candidate for Bidayuh-majority seat Opar.
According to PBK president Voon Lee Shan, Freedy holds an Executive Diploma in Business Management from the Open University of Malaysia.
Besides being a professional therapist, Freedy is also a fitness and gym instructor, a qualified Reiki practitioner, Yoga and swimming instructor.
He has worked in many 5-Star international hotels overseas and in Malaysia, and has received many accolades in tourism and hospitality.
He was a passionate Sarawak independence activist before joining PBK and believes in the struggle of the party. He believes that with its resources, Sarawak could be a very successful nation if Sarawak left Malaysia.
“He sees Singapore as an inspiration because after Singapore left Malaysia, Singapore is now a renowned financial hub in Asia,” Voon said in a statement issued today.
Meanwhile, Voon commented that Opar was in dire need for better schools, medical facilities, internet network and roads.
“The government had done very little to improve the livelihood of the people of Opar and many hardly could make ends meet. Many young people had left their villages in search of livelihood, leaving their aged parents at home,” said Voon.
Voon is optimistic that Freedy’s hard work would give him a good chance to create an upset win in Opar in the coming 12th Sarawak Elections.
With the introduction of Freedy, Opar currently has three potential candidates vying for the seat, namely Datuk Ranum Mina of Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) and Niponi Undek of Sarawak United People’s Party, which is a component of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (SUPP/GPS).—DayakDaily
