KUCHING, Feb 14 – The Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Women’s Wing now boasts 178,866 members, with growing interest from more women looking to join the party.
PBB Women chief Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah highlighted the party’s well-structured and systematic organisation as a key factor in attracting new members.
“At the PBB Women’s Wing General Meeting this morning, one of the reports presented highlighted that the number of PBB Women members has now reached 178,866.
“We also know that many more have shown interest in joining our party, which is not surprising because PBB has a well-structured and systematic party organisation,” she said at the party’s 16th Triennial General Meeting (TGM) of the Youth and Women’s Wing, held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) today.
Speaking to reporters afterwards, Fatimah highlighted the wing’s commitment to fostering a strong balance between senior and new leaders, ensuring the party’s continued growth and stability.
She highlighted that senior leaders serve as mentors, sharing their experiences—particularly regarding the party’s history—to uphold PBB’s political struggle and legacy.
“We know that PBB has always been the backbone of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), just as it was for Barisan Nasional in the past. As leaders and members, we have a responsibility to ensure that the party remains strong, stable, and united,” she added.
Fatimah also underscored the importance of unity within the Women’s Wing, not only between senior and new leaders but also across the Bumiputera and Pesaka wings, to maintain harmony and mutual understanding within the party.
In terms of organisation, she stressed that all party wings—Bapa, Youth, and Women—uphold the principle of inclusivity, with leadership representation spanning all regions of Sarawak’s northern, central, and southern zones, ensuring that grassroots voices from across the State are heard. — DayakDaily
