PAKAN, Dec 13: Members of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Sarawak are urged not to become complacent with their positions but instead remain focused on the party’s core mission in fighting for the rights and interests of the people of Sarawak.
In a news report by TVS, PBB Deputy President Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah also called on members to stay steadfast in upholding the values and principles that define the party’s struggle.
“We must always keep our feet firmly planted on the ground. Never let success make us forget where we come from or lose sight of our position,” he stated during the PBB N.47 Pakan branch annual general meeting yesterday (Dec 12).
Abdul Karim, who is also Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Art, further pointed out that out of the 82 seats in the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) today, 47 are held by PBB.
As a key component of the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition, Abdul Karim emphasised that PBB has a crucial role in shaping both the political and developmental landscape of Sarawak.
All PBB members, he said, must ensure that the party’s primary objective of advancing and defending the welfare of the people remains at the forefront.
He also highlighted that the PBB leadership views the struggle from a broader perspective, working to strengthen ties with other coalition parties such as Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP), and Progressive Democractic Party (PDP).
“This is vital to maintain political stability, effective governance, and to ensure that Sarawak’s diverse ethnic groups and interests are well-represented in the long term,” he added.
Also present at the meeting were the political secretary to the Premier of Sarawak Maurice Joannes Giri, PBB Balai Ringin Branch chief Petrus Igat Mathias, PBB Meluan Branch chief and PBB Supreme Council member Paulus Dandee Banyang, and PBB Supreme Council member Cr Kambira Anyan. — DayakDaily
