KUCHING, Feb 14: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has shown is as brave as he is wise when he never surrendered to Kuala Lumpur (KL) when fighting for Sarawak’s rights to the continental shelf within its boundaries.
This was said by Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) deputy president Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas at the officiation of PBB’s 16th triennial general meeting (TGM) at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) today which was graced by Abang Johari who is also the party’s president.
“Like a big vessel, PBB has a visionary and bold leadership to continue the party’s mission to ensure it stays strong and relevant, and he is no other than our Sarawak Premier.
“He is also smart in looking for resources and funds for Sarawak. We (in PBB) will stand behind you—you will never walk alone,” he said as his words were met with thunderous applause.

Since taking up the helm as Sarawak’s leader in 2017, Uggah, who is also the Deputy Premier, said Abang Johari has introduced 136 initiatives.
“These (initiatives) didn’t drop from the sky. I remember some from the opposition criticising it as ‘air liur’ (all talk and no action), but all these initiatives are happening, which can be seen and felt by all of us.
“This is all from PBB’s struggles. This party has contributed a lot for Sarawak and the nation,” he said.
Before ending his speech, Uggah requested that all party members stand up in a show of support for Abang Johari, who Uggah proudly announced has retained his presidency unopposed as agreed by all 82 party branches.
“We are confident with his leadership as PBB is the backbone of stability, unity, and sustainability. ‘Hidup PBB’ (Long live PBB)!” he said, as party members echoed his chants.
PBB deputy president Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, senior vice presidents Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof and Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, Women chief Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, Youth chief Martin Ben, and permanent chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar were among those present at the convention. — DayakDaily
