Patient weighing 200kg safely transported to Sibu Hospital

Firefighters together with APM and MOH personnel are seen carrying the patient down from the first floor of the shophouse.

KUCHING, Nov 16: The Sg Merah Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) assisted Ministry of Health (MOH) personnel to transport a patient weighing 200kg to the Sibu Hospital, today.

Sungai Merah Fire Station chief PKPgB Suna Kaha when contacted revealed they received the call at 1.52pm requesting for assistance to transport the patient from a shophouse in Jalan Petir to Sibu Hospital. A team of four firefighters led by PBK II (KUP) Jaffariza was despatched to the location.

The patient being lifted by medical officers and firefighters onto a hospital bed upon arrival at Sibu Hospital.

According to Suna, the 32-year-old patient is obese and had difficulty walking down the stairs from the first floor of the shophouse.

“Due to the patient’s large body size, the stretcher used could barely hold the patient’s body, and after conducting a ‘size up’ on the patient, the operation commander later instructed his team, with the help from the MOH officers and the Civil Defense Force (APM) personnel, to lift the patient using a stretcher together from the first floor of the shop house before the patient was transported to Sibu Hospital using a Bomba utility lorry that was on standby at the location,” he added. — DayakDaily
