Passenger pinned after lorry collides with 4WD along Taman Batu Kitang

KUCHING, July 8: A passenger was pinned after a lorry laden with gas cylinders collided with a four-wheel-drive vehicle (4WD) along Taman Batu Kitang road today.

Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) in a statement said they deployed firefighters from Bomba Batu Lintang after receiving a call regarding the incident at 12.43pm.

The 4WD which was involved in the collision with the lorry.

“The operation commander arriving at the incident location reported that a lorry carrying gas cylinders had collided head-on with a 4WD vehicle coming from the opposite direction. As a result of the collision, the lorry passenger was pinned in his front-passenger seat,” it said.


Firefighters had to cut the lorry door using a specialised tool to release the victim.

“Early medical treatment on the victim by the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) personnel on duty at the location revealed that the victim suffered from trauma, while the 4WD vehicle’s driver was unharmed,” the statement added.—DayakDaily.
