Pasai Cluster adds 9 cases overnight, Keranji Tabuan Cluster officially ends

KUCHING, Feb 16: The prolific Pasai Cluster continues to spread, recording nine Covid-19 cases today while the Keranji Tabuan Cluster in Kuching has officially ended with no new cases detected in the last 28 days.

With one cluster ended and six new clusters declared in Kuching, Samarahan, Sibu, Bintulu and Kapit today, there are now 21 active clusters in Sarawak.

The new clusters are Geronggang and Mas Merah in Sibu, Univista in Samarahan, Kampung Sungai Maong in Kuching, Gelong in Kapit and Kidurong Dua in Bintulu.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in a statement today, disclosed that all 15 patients from the Keranji Tabuan Cluster have recovered and been discharged from the hospital.

As for the Pasai Cluster, six of the nine new cases reported today were detected in Beluru while Song has two cases and Dalat has one.

This thus increases the total number of cases attributed to the cluster to 2,585.

A total of 33,000 individuals have been screened whereby 30,000 were negative and 412 are still awaiting lab test results.

Its sub-cluster dubbed Tangap in Subis did not record any new cases today, thus maintaining its total number of cases at 101. A total of 338 individuals have been screened whereby two are still awaiting lab results.

Apart from the Pasai Cluster, two other clusters in Sarawak also recorded an increase in Covid-19 cases.

The Nanga Lijan Cluster in Julau recorded four new cases today, pushing the cluster’s tally to 53. A total of 649 individuals have been screened whereby 113 were negative while 483 are awaiting lab results.

The Seruas Cluster in Beluru added one new case to increase the cluster’s tally to 79. A total of 300 individuals have been screened whereby 200 were negative while 21 are awaiting lab results.

The remaining 12 active clusters in the state did not record any new cases today.

They are Sebangkoi in Sri Aman, Jun Heng in Bintulu, Bintang Daily in Meradong, Jalan Pengiran in Matu, Tabong in Bau, Indah Riang and Stutong in Kuching, Bedayan in Serian, Rakut, Jelita and Bah Sayap in Miri and Bukit Sekubong in Sebauh.

Meanwhile, Sarawak reported one Covid-19 fatality in Sibu and 193 new cases today. Of the new cases, Sibu registered 105, Samarahan (19), 17 cases each in Kuching and Kapit, Bintulu (12), Beluru (7), Julau (6), three each in Song and Dalat, and two each in Miri and Bau.

This thus increased the state’s tally of positive cases to 7,025. — DayakDaily
