Eight more healthcare workers infected with Covid-19, tally rises to 188

KUCHING, Feb 16: Eight more healthcare workers across three hospitals in Sarawak were infected with Covid-19.

According to a press statement from the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), two staff at Sibu Hospital, four frontliners at Kapit health facility and two medical workers at Miri Hospital were tested positive for Covid-19.

With eight more medical personnel infected with Covid-19, the tally of healthcare workers who tested positive for coronavirus has increased to 188 as of today.

Prior to that, there were 180 medical staff who were infected with Covid-19.

On Feb 9, State Health director Dr Chin Zin Hing revealed that 162 cases were identified among healthcare workers between Jan and Feb 8 this year.

Four cases were reported on Feb 9 which added the tally to 166.

The following day (Feb 10), three more medical personnel reported to be infected with Covid-19.

The number of healthcare worker infected with Covid-19 continued to increase daily from then on with four cases on Feb 11, one on Feb 12, four on Feb 13 and one on Feb 14. — DayakDaily
