KUCHING, July 25: There is no confirmation whether there are Delta variant cases among the 50 positive cases of Covid-19 recorded in Kampung Bintawa Hilir here.

Pantai Damai assemblyman Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said the village has been placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) beginning July 21 to Aug 3 following the detection of several Covid-19 cases.

“The first case was detected as early as July 6 involving a case linked to the Kampung Tabuan Cluster and was officially announced on July 11.

“To date, there are 50 positive cases detected but we have yet to receive any information on which variant those cases belong to. We can only hope there will be no Delta variant in this area,” he told reporters during his visit to Kampung Bintawa Hilir today.
