Pantai Damai: GPS-PBB’s Abdul Rahman to face PSB’s Mahmud in straight fight

KUCHING, Dec 6: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi will go against Mahmud Sebli from Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) in a one-on-one fight to defend Pantai Damai seat in the 12th Sarawak Election.

Their names were announced by returning officer for Pantai Damai, Awang Yusuf Awang Mostapha after the nomination process at Dewan SK (Agama) Datuk Haji Abdul Kadir Hassan here had closed at 10am.


Abdul Rahman, 60, who is the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) vice president, won the Pantai Damai seat under the Barisan Nasional (BN) ticket with 3,315 majority votes in the 2001 Sarawak Election.

He then went on to defend his seat in the 2006 and 2011 State polls before winning the same seat again in the 2016 election after beating Zainal Abidin Yet of Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) with 9,260 majority votes.

This time around, he will be facing businessman Mahmud of PSB. — DayakDaily
