KUCHING, Aug 14: The Ministry of Works Malaysia and relevant ministries in Sarawak will look for allocation to improve the ‘redline’ roads along the Pan Borneo Highway.
According to Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, ‘redline’ roads are roads not included in the Pan Borneo Highway package because during that time, the stretch of road was completed and in good condition before the project started.
“But it has been a few years since the Pan Borneo Highway project was implemented. So the condition of the road (redline) is at a less satisfactory level than the Pan Borneo Highway,” he told reporters after visiting the Rest and Service Area (RSA) at Jelukong today.
He added that there are a few identified ‘redline’ roads along the Pan Borneo Highway.
“I am made to understand that it is more than 100 kilometres and involves multiple routes,” he said.
Meanwhile, Nanta said RSA in Jelukong will be in operation starting January next year.
“The construction progress for RSA Jelukong is 83.3 per cent, while progress for RSA in Sg Arip is at 14 per cent, and RSA in Lambir has yet to begin,” he said. — DayakDaily
