Pakistani man’s body found in Sungai Bidut after reportedly falling from Lanang Bridge

SIBU, Feb 1: The body of a Pakistani man who was feared to have drowned after falling off Lanang Bridge has been found today, 10km away from where he was last seen.

Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said they received a call from a member of the public at 12.25pm today that a body was seen floating in Sungai Bidut.

“The search and rescue team immediately rushed to the scene and brought the body to the Sarawak Rivers Board jetty in Lanang,” Bomba said in a statement today.


From there, the body was referred to the police for further action.

On Monday, the police had received report from a man concerning his friend, Amirzaman Alam, 25, from Pakistan who had fallen from Lanang Bridge.

Sibu District Police Chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili had said that a search and rescue team was mounted immediately which consisted of marine police, Bomba, and Civil Defence Force personnel. — DayakDaily
