KUCHING, July 9: The Pakan District Health Office has been ranked the top in Sarawak for its Covid-19 vaccination administration speed.

Julau MP Larry Sng, in highlighting this, said 82 per cent of those eligible who are 18 years old and above in Pakan have received their first vaccine doses as of yesterday (July 8).

“I am very pleased to highlight that KKM (Ministry of Health) Pakan District is ranked the top in Sarawak for its speed in vaccinating the public.

“As of today, 82 per cent of those eligible who are 18 years old and above have been vaccinated with a single dose and its vaccination centres have extended their services to assist those from nearby districts.

“This is due to good strategy, planning and efficiency in execution. Congratulations to our frontliners,” he said in a Facebook posting yesterday.

Meanwhile, Sng also said teenagers turning 18 years old by Dec 31, 2021 would be eligible for Covid-19 vaccination provided that they have their parents’ or guardian’s consent.

Up to today, the Sinovac and Astrazeneca vaccines are recommended only for those 18 years old and above, while the Pfizer vaccines have been approved for use on children aged 12 years old and above. — DayakDaily
