KUCHING, July 20: An estimated 1,000 members of the public from various Christian faiths congregated for the Sarawak Day Ecumenical Prayer 2023 at the Christian Ecumenical Worship Centre, Jalan Stampin, tonight.
The congregation was held for congregants to pray for peace and prosperity for Sarawak and to live in unity in diversity before the 60th Anniversary of Sarawak’s Independence on July 22.
It was organised by the association of churches in Sarawak and hosted by the Seventh-Day Adventist Church of Sarawak with the theme ‘Abound in Hope’, quoted from Romans 15:13.
Sarawak Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian, Deputy Minister of Utility Datuk Liwan Lagang, Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap, Unit For Other Religions Sarawak director Datu Jack Aman Luat, Archbishop of Kuching Simon Peter Poh Hoon Seng, Assistant Bishop of Kuching Reverend Nelson Ugas Bulang and the congregation’s organising chairman Pastor Chan Tin Loi were among some of those in attendance.
